Hearing Aids

Hearing-Aid Selection & Fitting

The hearing-aid selection process begins with a comprehensive hearing test. If you are a candidate for hearing aids your audiologist will discuss this with you at the conclusion of the hearing test. The audiologist may suggest seeing a physician to obtain medical clearance for purchasing hearing aids due to possible medical/surgical intervention. If you agree to the recommendation of purchasing a hearing aid, the next steps include:

  • Hearing Aid Evaluation (HAE): (1 ½ hour appointment)

This appointment is designed to help you determine the most suitable hearing aid(s) for your hearing loss. We will discuss and consider your lifestyle, hobbies, work environments, etc. You will also have an opportunity to listen and experiment with different hearing aids so that you can make a well-informed decision.

Review: Audiogram, Technology, Circuit Options, Prices, Trial Periods, Warranty, Demo, Styles, Purchase Agreement

  • Hearing Aid Assessment: (½ hour appointment)

This appointment is appropriate for those patients who have worn hearing aids in the past or who have already decided which hearing aids they want to purchase.

Includes: Brief overview of hearing aid options, Ear impression(s), Warranty Policy/Trial Period/Purchase Agreement

***If a decision is made to purchase hearing aid(s), the cost of the hearing aid(s) and the evaluation fee must be paid in full at this time. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled for a hearing aid fitting 2-3 weeks after the order is placed.

  • Hearing Aid Fitting: (1 hour appointment)

This is when you will receive your hearing aids on the 30-day trial period begins. At this appointment the hearing aid(s) will be programmed according to your hearing loss and comfort levels.

Review: Hearing aid care and maintenance, Insertion and removal of the device, Circuit features and switch use, Battery size

Note: Most insurance companies, including Medicare, do not cover the cost of hearing aids. The majority of insurance companies will not cover the Hearing Aid appointments or fitting fees. We will be happy to consult your individual policy to determine any hearing aid benefits upon your request.
